Passionate Performers Project

Bobby ConnorBobby Connor (aged 80-something) still works for NASA because he LOVES the science and the adventure…..he was part of the ground team for the first moon landing and still talks about the future with passion and excitement.

To be honest I wasn’t really looking forward to the ‘rocket-science’ at the Johnson Space Centre, Houston, but Bobby’s infectious enthusiasm hooked me instantly and kept me enthralled for an entire day. I felt really moved by his story and his obvious pride in being a part of both history and the future. I left feeling inspired by mankind, which was way beyond my expectations for a day at a ‘science museum’!

Most people expect to be retired well before their 80′s. But why would you want to retire if you feel you are part of a cause that really matters to you? Bobby behaves as though it is his job to inspire future generations of people to continue to explore the frontiers of space. He is buzzing with youthful energy and intelligence and I imagine he will be whizzing himself in to work on a rocket propelled zimmer frame when he gets to his 100′s.

I want to know more about people like Bobby. What has to be true for one human being to create a meaningful livelihood, while another might just work to pay the bills? What’s the difference that makes the difference in people who inspire and uplift us through their work, and those who we would rather avoid because their impact is draining or disturbing? That is why I am starting this project.

Can you help? I am looking for people like Bobby. People who LOVE what they do. People who are a joy to work with. People who bring an energy that inspires others to work with passion too. Are you like this? Do you know someone like this? Let me know, as I am hoping to find more passionate performers to model. I have already begun, so watch this space over the next few weeks for some home grown examples of passionate performers from the world of travel, sport and finance (yes, I said ‘finance’!).

Passionately, Lorraine

    Hi Lorraine
Check out a lady called Dr Elisabeth Svendsen who runs two charities – The Donkey Sanctuary and The Elisabeth Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) here in the UK. I met Dr Elisabeth a couple of years ago when I was enquiring about ‘donkey therapy’ for children with communication issues. At eighty years young she is a lady who is passionate about her work and this is evident when she talks about her work. She is an amazing lady and one who continues to inspire me on a project I’m currently working on.

    Regards
    Mary
